LEAD INTERIOR DESIGNER

Designer Blvd. is seeking an EXPERIENCED Lead Interior Designer to join our growing studio. Our Design Team members are self-directed individuals, extremely detail-oriented, with exceptional project management skills, and an innate design eye. The right candidate is passionate about interior design, confident owning projects, enjoys leading both clients and team members, and wants long-term growth within a collaborative, fast-paced design environment.

The ideal candidate brings a positive, glass-half-full attitude, a strong sense of ownership, and a great sense of humor. They are deeply client-driven, consistently putting client needs first while maintaining clarity, confidence, and professionalism.

They move with urgency and intention, know how to prioritize without being micromanaged, and follow projects through from start to finish. A strong understanding of finishes, materials, color, and specifications—from building materials to furniture and soft goods—is essential, along with experience navigating design requirements and build orders for high-end residential projects.

This role is for someone with high energy, strong follow-through, and a natural drive to execute excellent work—efficiently and thoughtfully.

We design residential and select commercial projects, with a primary focus on residential work. Our studio is highly client-driven, detail-focused, and creative — and we expect a high level of ownership, accountability, and professionalism.

This is an in-office role most days, with installs primarily local.

This is not a short-term role. We are intentionally looking for someone who sees themselves growing with Designer Blvd. for 3+ years and is excited to lead the interior design work for the company alongside the founder.

THE ROLE

As Lead Interior Designer, you will:

  • Own residential (and select commercial) interior design projects from initial concept through final installation

  • Serve as the primary client contact throughout the entire project lifecycle

  • Lead all design meetings, presentations, and major client conversations with confidence

  • Create elevated, cohesive designs that reflect each client’s personality, lifestyle, and goals

  • Encourage bold, thoughtful design decisions while maintaining trust, clarity, and alignment

  • Manage all design details with precision, organization, and accountability

  • Lead and mentor one Assistant Interior Designer

  • Work closely with the founder and owner on creative direction, execution, and overall design standards

  • Do whatever it takes to get the job done and make the company thrive.

This role requires strong construction and architectural knowledge, in addition to refined design and styling skills, excellent time management, and a high level of ownership (You are expected to see what needs to be done — and handle it — without reminders).

 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Design Leadership & Creative Direction

  • Lead design projects from start to finish

  • Translate client inspiration into elevated, cohesive design concepts

  • Create mood boards, palettes, and detailed design direction

  • Guide clients toward thoughtful, sometimes bold decisions while maintaining trust

  • Ensure every design feels intentional, layered, and refined

  • Extreme attention to detail with an overall desire to produce consistent, accurate work

 

Client Experience & Communication

  • Own client relationships and communication throughout the project lifecycle

  • Lead design meetings and presentations with confidence

  • Manage expectations around scope, budget, and timelines

  • Navigate difficult conversations with professionalism and emotional intelligence

  • Maintain proactive, consistent, and professional communication

 

Technical & Construction Expertise

  • Apply strong understanding of construction methods and architectural details

  • Confidently specify and work with cabinetry, tile, stone, fixtures, lighting, windows, doors, appliances, and custom elements

  • Review drawings, plans, and specifications for accuracy and feasibility

  • Understand design requirements, build orders, and specifications for high-end residential projects

 

Project Ownership & Organization

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously with accuracy and follow-through

  • Maintain organized documentation using Google Drive

  • Track budgets, selections, and approvals

  • Coordinate with vendors, trades, and internal team members

  • Be hands-on during install and styling days and problem-solve quickly and calmly on site (local installs; some physical movement required)

 

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3–5+ years of direct experience as an interior designer

  • Construction or architectural experience strongly preferred

  • Proven understanding of architectural and interior design principles

  • Strong working knowledge of building materials and trade resources

  • Excellent time management, prioritization, and multitasking skills

  • Proven ability to lead conversations and command a room when needed

  • Strong budgeting awareness and project management skills

  • Highly organized, self-directed, and accountable

  • Comfortable receiving feedback and using it to improve outcomes

  • Strong sense of urgency with consistent follow-through

  • Collaborative, accountable, and client-focused

 

TECH & SOFTWARE

  • Highly proficient in Google Drive and digital organization

  • SketchUp experience required

  • Comfortable with spreadsheets and documentation tools

ASSISTANT INTERIOR DESIGNER

Designer Blvd. is seeking an Assistant Interior Designer who is motivated, detail-oriented, and eager to grow into a Lead Interior Designer role over time. Our Design Team members are self-directed individuals, extremely detail-oriented, with exceptional project management skills, and an innate design eye. The right candidate is passionate about interior design, confident assisting design projects, enjoys leading both clients and team members, and wants long-term growth within a collaborative, fast-paced design environment.

This position is designed for someone who wants real responsibility, real learning, and real growth — not a long-term assistant role.

The ideal candidate brings a positive, glass-half-full attitude, a strong sense of ownership, and a great sense of humor. They are deeply client-driven, consistently putting client needs first while maintaining clarity, confidence, and professionalism.

They move with urgency and intention, know how to prioritize without being micromanaged, and follow projects through from start to finish. Possessing an understanding of finishes, materials, color, and specifications—from building materials to furniture and soft goods.

This role is for someone with high energy, strong follow-through, and a natural drive to execute excellent work—efficiently and thoughtfully.

This role is intentionally designed as a development track toward becoming a Lead Interior Designer. We are not looking for a long-term assistant — we are looking for someone who wants to learn, take ownership, and move up.

As Assistant Interior Designer, you will support the Lead Interior Designer while gaining hands-on experience across all phases of the design process, from concept to install.

You will be exposed to nearly everything required of a Lead Designer and are expected to grow in responsibility, confidence, and independence over time. How quickly you advance depends on performance, ownership, and readiness.

With 20+ years of experience in Interior Design, Carol's depth of expertise is the driving force behind her role as the founder and lead designer of Designer Blvd. She skillfully transforms ambitious dreams into tangible realities, showcasing an unwavering commitment and meticulous attention to detail that define the essence and aesthetic of Designer Blvd.

Carol and her husband, Garland, share a steadfast passion for innovation and the continual improvement of Designer Blvd. Amidst their bustling family life with five children, three grandchildren, and four cherished granddogs, Carol loves to travel, watch murder mysteries, have a bowl of ice cream, and connect with cherished friends

CHELSEA THOMPSON

LEAD DESIGNER

Chelsea grew up sneaking into her dad’s office to search through the ARMLS and watching her mom stage houses. During college, she learned how to create 3D renderings and started designing spaces for fun.  A few years later, she started working in the design industry and became passionate about creating functional and beautiful spaces for clients. She is the mother to three delightful children, who are wild and zealous about life.  She also loves photography, writing children's books, and gathering with family and friends as often as she can!
