Our clients loved their neighborhood and the community they had built around them, but they had outgrown the way their home functioned. Rather than leave a place that already felt like home, they wanted to reimagine the house itself.

The original floor plan simply wasn’t making the most of the square footage. We completely reworked the main level, removing an unnecessary double front room to create a butler’s pantry, dramatically enlarging the kitchen, and opening the back of the home into a true great room where the kitchen and living spaces finally felt connected.

Having worked with these clients on two previous projects, we already knew how much they valued a home that felt collected and personal. Our client often talked about visiting her grandmother on the East Coast and wanted to capture some of that same warmth, charm, and sense of history. We brought that feeling in through rich walnut cabinetry, creamy stone, warm brass, vintage-inspired lighting, and styling that feels collected rather than overly polished.

One of our favorite details is the custom fireplace, designed with the same stone used on the kitchen backsplash. Carrying that material across both spaces ties the great room together while adding texture and the old-world character we wanted the home to have.

The finished home feels open, but never cold. Elevated, but never too precious. It has the function of a completely reimagined layout with the warmth and character of a home that feels like it has been loved for generations.
